fffffIn
writing this Play, I met standard 2.1 by writing a fictional, semi-autobiographical
narrative. My assignment was to write a play that would be performed
by professiona
l actors at the Magic Theatre. The Magic Theatre is a place for new
playwrites to present their works. While writing this play, I worked
with David Ford, a director and occasional writer at the Magic Theatre.
During my ten weeks of intensive writing, David helped me when I had
trouble getting started, corrected mistakes, offered suggestions,
and helped with revisions I needed to make.
fffffDuring the process of composing
this play, I discovered the differences in writing a play and other
mediums of displaying ideas. Realizing this difference, and adapting
to the change, I grew into a better writer being able to now write
in another format. I faced many obstacles along the way, perhaps the
most difficult was working with confrontational dialogue between characters
in the play. By listening to David and blending in my own ideas, I
was able to overcome this by means of imagining the conversation between
those characters in my head. Not only did my writing skills, but I
grew emotionally as well. It wasn’t just during the writing
when I developed emotionally; it was during the performance of my
play that my ability to cope with past events budded. I wrote the
story to be semi-autobiographical, so seeing the characters resemble
those in my life so closely, and being able to better understand my
own real life situations I developed emotionally and as a writer.
