nbsp; Growing
up I always heard my family talk about college. Everyone in my family has
completed high school but nobody has graduated from college. My parents wer=
e the
only two out of the entire family that even attempted to go to college, but
neither of them finished the four years of college. Everyone told me that I
should attend a university because it would be a great accomplishment, not =
only
for me, but for the entire family. Over the years, all of their words have
stuck to me and I have set a goal for myself. I will go to college and foll=
ow
through all the way so I can graduate and make everybody including myself
proud.
&=
nbsp; I
have overcome many obstacles in my life, especially my parents’ divor=
ce
and remarriage. They got divorced when I was about nine years old, and that=
was
tough to get through. I was forced to stay with my mom for three years and I
spent the last two years since the divorce with my dad. Those were the best
years of my life. My parents remarried when I turned fourteen so my father =
and
I had to move to San Francisco to live with my mom. I had to change high
schools in different cities, and that was extremely hard. I lived in Sacram=
ento
all of my life so it was challenging to adjust to the new city,=
ins>
but after being here for two years, I have gotten used to it. I am even
starting to like staying in the Bay Area. Being in the Bay Area for so long,
seeing how everybody is and what everything is like, I have been influenced=
to
go to a college here so I can feel at home.
&=
nbsp; A
big success for me is staying in school. There were many times when I wante=
d to
drop out because of social problems and family business, but I kept myself
going. Also a few of my friends motivated me to go to school everyday and n=
ow I
go almost all the time. Even though my grades are not as high as I would li=
ke
them to be, my attendance has improved drastically. Now I am looking forwar=
d to
graduating next year in 2006 and moving on to college. I can hardly wait un=
til
I hear my name called on the stage and I can walk up and get my diploma. The
ultimate success would be graduating on time and getting accepted to a coll=
ege
that I would enjoy going to. That would be the biggest success in h=
ins>igh
school for me.
&=
nbsp; My
education is great. I take advantage of it off and on. From junior high sch=
ool
to high school, I changed quite a bit. In middle school I never attended, s=
o I
barely passed. Then, when I went to high school in Sacramento, I had a great
learning experience. My teachers were cool and I always received at least a=
3.0
on every report card. Now that I am at Mission High School in San Francisco=
, I
am getting lazy and I hardly maintain good grades. But that is changing in =
the
second semester of my junior year. I realized that my education at school is
extremely important and that I need to take advantage of it, because,=
ins>
previously, I did not take school seriously and that is why I received a low
GPA last marking period. Now I am taking a night course in physics so I can=
get
extra credits for science and I hope that I will have the proper credits and
GPA to get into a college of my choice.
&=
nbsp; My
dream is to work in a recording studio with major artists from the B=
ay
Area or any other musicians around the United States after I complete four
years of college. I would love to make instrumentals with or for them. I wa=
nt
to produce music for a living and work with my idols in the studio. I have =
had
some experience with a producer already, but I want to be working and make =
some
big moves with the artists. It would be a dream come true to see my name in=
the
credits of an artist’s album. My career would be even bigger if my be=
at
got the artist some radio play. That would be my ultimate goal besides
graduating from college. I cannot wait until that day. I am already saving =
up
money for equipment, so that I can start as soon as possible. Hopefully
everything will work out, and if it does not, I could say that I at least t=
ried
to achieve one of my goals.
