Dear Reader
This is who I am...
My name is Jorge Manuel Delgado Vargas;
I was born on April 23, 1988 in Puebla, Mexico. I have lived all my
life with two females, the best women in the world, my mother and
my sister. One of the things that I love the most is my family, to
me they are the only treasure’s I have had in this life. I can
write a whole essay about my love for my family, but with three words
I would summarize that immense and eternal love. These words are sacrifice,
love, and understanding.
Four years ago, I had the amazing opportunity to come to this country
and start a new life for my family and myself. Life is a mystery;
we could never understand the paths that it takes us. I never, in
my entire life, thought that I would be here in this country. I never
thought that I was going to speak another language or that I was going
to be able to understand and be part of another culture.
Let me tell you what I have found about myself for being in another
culture, I have been able to discover my real me, my real identity
in life.
- I am Jorge Delgado, son of Guadalupe Vargas. I am Latino, Mexicano,
Meztiso, and Hispano. My blood has been mixed of two cultures: My
blood is from Spain, the old world, and from a new world. My skin
color is brown as the ground on earth where life grows and ends. My
eyes are dark brown as the coffee that I drink everyday; my hair is
black, shiny, and curly. It is like a bird’s nest, a nest of
love and care with warm sensations and passion. My mother says I am
hijo de Cervantes…my father says I am hijo de Cuauhtémoc.
I don’t have holidays; I have Fiestas, pachangas. I don’t
drink wine or Champagne …I drink tequila, mescal, tepache, and
pulque. Girls say that I don’t have the four Cs (Cuerpo, Cara,
Carro, y Cartera), but instead I have the three F’s (Feo, Fuerte,
y Formal). I am poetic, I am romantic, I’m passionate for life,
for girls, and for love. I love to study and Yes! I’m a nerd,
but I’m a nerd that can dance, that can laugh, that can love,
and that can dress with style. I don’t regret too much about
life. I have a package that I must work out. My package are my friends,
my family, my mom, my legal status, my social class, my mind, my conscience,
and my heart. I am Jorge Delgado. I’m a writer. I’m crazy,
and I’m not normal, I’m unique, special. There cannot
be anyone like me because I am a educator and an athlete. -
