One of the works I did that could show the skills growth and process best was the Legal Eagle Research Project. I spent more than a month on this project, because it had many steps that needed to be finished one by one. I related both current and past events to show my topic. Finding good and suitable information was not as easy as I thought, because they had to be related to the topic while they could represent the events of the topic well; also it should show the influence in our life.
This is my most effective piece, because it was not only a project but also reflected the real problem which had really happened in our society. I researched a lot of information and learned a lot more than how to do a project. At the beginning of this project, everyone needed to choose a topic from the list that the teacher gave us. I chose water pollution as my topic, because I thought that water was important to our environment and everyday life. By doing the research, I learned a lot about water pollution. For example, I learned that chemicals are the mainly sources of water pollution. After that, I brainstormed and created a specific topic question, and then I chose three pro and con questions that related to my topic, so that I would have a direction to find information to prove my topic. I went to San Francisco Public Library, Facts on File, News Bank, and Net Trekker to find different kinds of sources. If I went to Google, maybe more sources would be listed, but some of them could be artificial, so Google was not a good choice for me. I read a lot of articles about water pollution and then selected the ones that could explain my questions best. I used Inspiration to analyze my information. I copied the quotes from the sources and then pasted them in a good arrangement to let people see the questions and answers clearly. Since I used the quotes of different articles, I needed to use Noodle Bib to show the bibliography so that people could find out the whole articles if they wanted to know more. In addition, I revised this project twice so that it could be improved.
