The Great Depression Letter is one of the class works I did in U.S. History class. The standard I met was for students to use a variety of maps and documents to interpret human movement, migration, conflict, settlement patterns, technological innovations, and goods. In class I got to see pictures from the Great Depression. Also, I observed a lot of pictures and documents about the Great Depression. I wrote down what I saw, heard, and felt. For example, the first picture I observed is the one which has a lot of people in line trying to get job. In addition, the other resources for this project were the video or movie that made me feel pity for people who lived through that experience. I heard them yelling “pick me” when they were trying to find a job. The Great Depression Letter is an example of my best work in U.S. History class, because by looking at the photograph. I learned how to focus and observe resources carefully from the Great Depression. After I observed, I wrote a letter to the president asking him for help providing food to give more jobs for those who really need work. In this letter I pretend that I was the photographer during great depression taking pictures of the victims during 1934. I think I did a pretty good job in this work, because I improved my writing and thinking. At first I thought this is boring, because it was a long time ago and I did not want to pretend that I was in that time. But when I started thinking and imagining how life was during the Great Depression I became more interested in writing this class work. Here is an example from the letter that I enjoyed writing, “I suggest that the government should provide some food to those hunger families and give jobs or at least add more people who can work and earn money in many ways”. That’s when I was asking the president to give people more benefit to live, such as provide food and give more jobs to earn money for their self support.
